When you first start to ski, the wedge turn can be a great way to get started and build your control skills and confidence.

After your lesson when you have learned the basic wedge turn remember the following to practice:

1. Always get onto terrain where you are very comfortable. Sasparilla (the Magic Carpet slope), or Snubber (the Kissin” Cousins chairlift) are great places to practice.

2. When you start your wedge turn put pressure on the ski when you start the turn. If turning left PRESS on the right ski and turning right the left one first.

3. Keep the pressure on until the turn starts to occur and you have completed it. You will soon start to feel good about your turning and speed control.

4. Always remember that you can slow down by continuing the turn up into the hill, then start the new one.  You can use as much of the hill as you want, so enjoy yourself.

5. As your technique improves remember to keep your hands out front and look in the direction you want to travel.

HAVE FUN AND KEEP TURNING !
