Parallel turns from a wedge

1. Begin by traversing across the hill with your skis parallel and your body facing somewhat downhill.

2. When you’re ready to begin your turn, shift your weight upwards and forwards by stretching your ankles and knees. Make a wedge with your skis by rotating the front of your ski until you have a wedge position. Make the turn with the wedge.

3. After the turn, slide your skis parallel and traverse in the other direction. (Like the picture below). Kids this is French Fries! Repeat this until you’re comfortable traversing and turning.

4. Once you’re having fun with this, make a narrower wedge while still making bigs turns. Remember to bring your skis together directly after the turn. Take a few runs till this feels good.

5. Once you are comfortable sliding your skis into a parallel position, try making the entire turn with your skis parallel. Keep more pressure on the outside ski during the turn, and even boot pressure when traversing between turns.
